COMMON QUERIES

FAQ: FAQ

WHAT WILL THERAPY WITH YOU BE LIKE?

My goal is to make you feel as comfortable with the process as possible.  Therefore, therapy sessions will be a collaborative process during which I will elicit feedback from you about what is working and what you feel could make the process better for you.  Typically, the first few sessions of therapy will involve me asking you questions to get a comprehensive life history, to clearly understand what you are seeking with the therapeutic process (or to help you decide what that might be), and to set goals for your therapy experience.  From there, we may use a variety of therapeutic interventions to help you find the healing you are seeking including techniques derived from: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Socratic Questioning, among others.  I welcome individuals who are more senior in their therapeutic journey, or are new to the process.  It is normal to feel nervous about the idea of starting therapy, and I will work with you to ease your anxieties and answer any questions you might have.

HOW DOES PAYING FOR THERAPY WORK?

Payment for services is collected at the end of each therapy session.  If you are utilizing your insurance benefits for therapy, I will file claims with your insurance.  The insurance will notify me about your portion owed.  Sometimes this is the entire contracted rate until a deductible is met, sometimes this is just a copayment, and sometimes this is no fee at all and is dependent on your benefits.  If you would like to know more about your individual benefits, you can call the number on the back of your insurance card.

If you are a private-pay client, I will collect the full session fee at the end of each session.  I accept cash, checks, and major credit cards.

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

An appointment for therapy is a reservation on my calendar.  This means that this reservation is space set aside for you, and will not be given to any other patient.  Therefore, my office has a 24-hour cancellation policy and requires notification of a missed or cancelled appointment 24-hours before the scheduled time.  If you do not show up for a therapy session, or cancel with less than 24 hours remaining before the scheduled appointment time, you will be responsible for the full session fee.  Please note, insurance companies will not provide reimbursement for missed sessions.
